Lincoln Riley’s USC Crisis Deepens — Sammy

#

Lincoln Riley arrived at USC with a reputation as one of college football’s brightest offensive minds. His teams were expected to produce explosive plays, develop elite quarterbacks, and challenge the biggest programs in the country.

But USC’s 24–7 defeat against Wisconsin has created another wave of uncomfortable questions.

The Trojans entered the matchup hoping to strengthen their position in the Big Ten race. Instead, they delivered an offensive performance that fell far below expectations.

Quarterback Jayden Maiava endured a difficult afternoon, throwing two interceptions while facing relentless defensive pressure.

Wisconsin recorded five sacks, disrupting USC’s rhythm and preventing the offense from establishing consistency.

The Trojans managed just one touchdown and failed to score during the second half.

For a program associated with offensive firepower, that kind of performance is difficult to explain.

The missed field goals only added to the frustration.

But the larger concern isn’t any single turnover, sack, or unsuccessful drive. It’s the continuing gap between what USC’s offense is supposed to be and what it actually produces against strong competition.

Riley has acknowledged that both coaching and execution must improve.

That accountability matters, but USC supporters are looking for more than explanations.

They want results.

And the schedule offers little relief.

Ohio State awaits on October 31, presenting a significant challenge for a USC team that must quickly regain confidence.

Another disappointing offensive showing would likely intensify scrutiny of Riley’s leadership and the direction of the program.

At the same time, firing a head coach is not a simple solution. Major coaching changes carry financial, recruiting, and organizational consequences.

USC must determine whether its current struggles reflect temporary execution problems or something deeper within the team’s identity.

Riley still has an opportunity to change the conversation.

But that opportunity begins with finding answers on the field.

**USC fans, should Lincoln Riley get more time to rebuild, or has the program waited long enough?**
